My mother and I are going vegan for the 40 days of lent.

I’m not religious, but she is. Extremely so and to a fault, as many of my friends are aware.

Normally, I don’t care for her customs and avoid them vehemently.

However, this is something that I’ve been contemplating for a while, and now I have the opportunity to do so. The last time I tried to adhere to simple vegetarianism, my parents threatened to kick me out. This change of heart makes little sense to me, but I’m not aiming to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Hopefully it goes well. If that’s the case, I’ll likely stick to it.
